What is a Specialized Professional Program (SPP)؟

Specialized Professional Programs are officially accredited initiatives by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS). They are designed to enable healthcare professionals to gain advanced, practice-oriented experience and achieve a prestigious recognition in their respective fields.

Through interactive lectures, case discussions, simulations, and applied assessments, participants will learn to:

  1. Analyze infection risks and transmission pathways.
  2. Apply standard and transmission-based precautions effectively.
  3. Conduct environmental cleaning and sterilization audits. 
  4. Evaluate departmental IPC performance and develop improvement plans.
  5.  Utilize surveillance data for infection trend analysis and outbreak management.
  6.  Lead multidisciplinary IPC initiatives within healthcare facilities.

Objectives

  • Explain the fundamental principles of infection prevention and control (IPC), including microbiology, modes of transmission, and infection chain, with at least 90% accuracy on a written post-course assessment.
  • Demonstrate correct implementation of standard and transmission-based precautions in simulated healthcare scenarios, achieving at least 85% compliance according to the course’s practical evaluation checklist.
  • Assess and apply environmental infection control measures, including cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization techniques, by completing a practical audit exercise with ≥80% correct performance.
